Homemade Taco Seasoning
I love to make our own Taco seasoning, especially since I checked out the ingredient lists on most premade packets. It’s a great way to keep preservatives and things like MSG out of our food. (Plus it’s so much cheaper!) After some playing around with a couple recipes, I finally have one that we really like.
Donielle’s Taco Seasoning
2 Tbsp chili powder
5 tsp paprika
4 tsp cumin
3 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
just a dash a cayenne pepper
Mix all ingredients together in a jar and shake them to mix. I normally use about half this mixture for each pound of beef we use, but start with a couple tablespoons and go from there to match your own taste!
*one little note – depending on the chili powder you use, you may need more or less than the 2 Tbsp. I bought some expensive stuff once and it was a lot spicier than the cheaper store brand powder. So if yours is either really fresh or really potent, you may want to cut back a bit!
*second little note – if your family is just getting used to eating less processed foods, try adding 1 tsp of organic cane sugar in with this mix so it seems more “normal” to them. Then back it out each time you make it. Soon enough, you won’t have any sugar in it and the package mixes won’t taste good at all!

I love homemade taco seasoning! My recipe is a little different than yours….but not everyone has the same tastes! Great tip!
