Recipe : Sausage

Since cutting pork and more importantly, nitrates, out of our diets about a year ago, we really haven’t had any store bought sausage. So I was thrilled when Michele posted a recipe for hers! After just a bit of tweaking for our own tastes, this is what I’ve been making

Sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 egg lightly beaten
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp dried sage
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp powdered ginger
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp black pepper

Mix all ingredients together until well blended. Use about 1/4 cup of mix to make sausage patties or cook up like ground beef for crumbly sausage.

We’ve used this not only for breakfast, but also to add into our spaghetti sauce for a bit of something extra and to the top of our pizzas!
