How was everyone’s Christmas?? Ours went quite well if I do say so myself. I rather enjoy spending time with family and relaxing without the stress of “getting things done”. I was a rather bad mom when it came to taking pictures though. I took this one (ONE) before we opened presents here at home:
To make up for it though, the rest of it is on our video camera! Almost more fun since we got to have all his little made up words on tape! We did go very simple for this Christmas not only because of the $, but because I just think it’s important that he learn the true meaning of Christmas and not expect big gifts each year. Plus, how many toys does one kid really need? As it is, we’re busting at the seams and don’t have a lot of space to store things. Before Christmas I had a box of toys set aside to get rid of and now I think another box will have to join that one! We definitely don’t live in a mansion, so if we don’t start getting rid of things we’ll be out on the street while the toys take over!
I seemed to hit the jackpot this year with gifts too. All are useful and none frivolous, which I quite needed this year. I ended up getting a vacuum sealer which will be great for in the summer when I go to freeze produce, a set of stainless steel pots (I threw my teflon ones away as soon as we got home!! Yay, no more toxic junk!), a set of glass mixing bowls, and even a sewing organizer (which was also organized right when I got home!).
All in all we had a great time visiting with family, and now we’re suffering the toddler meltdowns after a few days of junk food and less sleep. So this week we’ve been working on getting things back to normal!
Tonight being New Years Eve and all, we have big, BIG plans! Alright, so we’re pretty boring people and haven’t quite made concrete plans. We’ve been invited to a couple different gatherings and may stop somewhere for a little bit, but I seriously don’t know if I can make it all the way to midnight. This baby just makes me to dog gone tired some days! Plus, if we head out to late we’ll have to put a toddler to sleep and then wake him up to bring him home. Not something I look forward to doing. So we plan on at least being home a few hours before midnight to curl up on the couch, eat some junk food, and drink our organic sparkling grape juice before we head to bed at 12:01am. And really, that’s nothing less than perfect in my book!
