Readers Ask: I dunno -part 6? 7?

One Frugal Girl asked:

What do you most want your readers to gain from reading this blog?

That there is more out there than what doctors are willing to advise or do. Just because someone wears a white coat and went to school for a million years does not mean they know everything! While I have the utmost respect for them, they have studied one area – medicine. I want my readers to know that they themselves need to be an advocate for their health. I want them to think outside the box and research on their own! I want the subjects I write about here to be a jumping off point, not the end all cures. I just want people to know that better health can be achieved without tons of pills.

She also asked:

Why did you start this blog?

I started it because I never found exactly what I was looking for when I was googling about fertility. Most everything I read was medically based and I just didn’t want to go there. I truly feel that God lead me to a few certain bloggers/books at the exact time I needed, to read their information, and I’m just hoping to pass that on.

Plus, I tend to like to teach what I know and pass on advice. But a lot of people don’t like to hear it, or take it! So this is also an outlet for me. A way for me to share what I’ve learned to be truth and then peopl can take it or leave it. And I never have to see the eye rolls!

Tracy asked:

Have you ever had a miscarriage? I know this is super personal, but I recently had one and it’s been a huge struggle. It took a long time for us to get pregnant, then we did for the first time ever, only to lose the baby.

First may I just say how very sorry I am for your loss. For me the loss of a baby is unimaginable. I have never experienced a miscarriage to date. May you rest in God’s peace and comfort and know that even though your baby is no longer with you, you completed a great work. You were able to provide for that little one until God was ready to call him home to Glory! A home in eternity where now God holds that little one just as he’s holding you.

Kristin asked:

Do you have any favorite recipes using bulgur?

Nope. Actually that’s one of the things that are on my “to try” list! If anyone has some – send them my way!

Light a candle with me at 7:00 tonight

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. And on this day at 7:00pm people all over the world will be lighting a candle in remembrance of those babies who were called home to be with our Heavenly Father before we were able to get to know them. Most recently in my own life, my close friends little baby girl, who was called to her eternal home at 39 weeks gestation.

Watch this video and really listen to the song. It’s absolutely beautiful and completely touched me.

And if you have experienced the loss of a baby, may I just take a moment and say how very sorry I am for your loss. May you take comfort in knowing that you were used for a great work in providing for that little baby until the exact moment God called them home. He holds you now just as he is cradling your little one. My prayers are with you.

Won’t you join me in lighting a candle?

October is Loss Awareness Month

Today I’d like to point you over to my friend Emily’s blog. They recent lost their little baby girl Hannah, a couple weeks ago, just 5 weeks after she was born.

“Grief is a strange thing. The days go by and appear from the outside to be normal. Taking the kids to the park, getting groceries, taking care of Ellie. But from the inside they are different. They will never be the same.”

Her words are beautiful.

Proclamation 5890—Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
October 25th, 1988

By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation

Each year, approximately a million pregnancies in the United States end in miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of the newborn child. National observance of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, 1988, offers us the opportunity to increase our understanding of the great tragedy involved in the deaths of unborn and newborn babies. It also enables us to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members and work to prevent causes of these problems.

Health care professionals recognize that trends of recent years, such as smaller family size and the postponement of childbearing, adds another dimension of poignance to the grief of parents who have lost infants. More than 700 local, national, and international support groups are supplying programs and strategies designed to help parents cope with their loss. Parents who have suffered their own losses, health care professionals, and specially trained hospital staff members are helping newly bereaved parents deal constructively with loss.

Compassionate Americans are also assisting women who suffer bereavement, guilt, and emotional and physical trauma that accompany post-abortion syndrome. We can and must do a much better job of encouraging adoption as an alternative to abortion; of helping the single parents who wish to raise their babies; and of offering friendship and temporal support to the courageous women and girls who give their children the gifts of life and loving adoptive parents. We can be truly grateful for the devotion and concern provided by all of these citizens, and we should offer them our cooperation and support as well.

The Congress, by Senate Joint Resolution 314, has designated the month of October 1988 as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month” and authorized and requested the President to issue a proclamation in observance of this month.

Now, Therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim the month of October 1988 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities. In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-fifth day of October, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and eighty-eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirteenth.
