Baby Bump Update: week 37
Yup, still here! We just had a rough weekend and I’ve been catching up on some much needed sleep. Last Saturday Cody got something in his eye as he was playing with the register cover for the heating ducts and it turned into 4 days of not so much fun. That night the two of us got only a few hours sleep and that was only because I slept on the floor with him.
Yea, sleeping on the floor at nine months pregnant is not fun!
And we were up a lot Sunday night as well. Monday his eye was still all red and swollen so I brought him in to have it checked out. Nothing was in there so they sent us off with some antibiotic eye drops. Which I proceeded not to use since it wasn’t going to help heal it at all. And really…. have you ever tried to get drops into a toddlers eyes? Seriously not fun!
But on to the baby stuff!
The baby this week:
I was right last week thinking she was dropping down. I always get a few days of quite moderate pain when they drop, so I figured she was headed somewhere! The pain is finally gone now and I can definitely feel her much lower. Like now my belly sits on my lap when I sit down! Even the doc mentioned yesterday how she was sitting quite low.
Speaking of the doc, my appointment went well yesterday. She’s measuring right on track and the heartbeat was a strong 145. Exactly where it’s been almost every time the last few months. I also had my Group B Strep test done and am praying it comes back negative this time. I really hate having IV’s and would really like to go through this labor without being hooked up. Hopefully I’ll hear the results soon.
How I feel
Starting to feel like I’d like this to be over. I do enjoy being pregnant, but the last month can be so uncomfortable. I’ve been getting a lot more contractions at night which is making it hard to sleep. Most are painless, but turn my tummy rock hard and they’re just all around not fun.
I also really wish I’d get my kick of nesting energy about now as well! So many things to do, but it still wears me out a bit.
And with only a few weeks to go, I’m left wondering how much longer she’ll stay in there. Cody came 2 weeks before his technical due date so I tend to think in terms of going 2 weeks early. But I’m really trying not to for that fact that I don’t want to be disappointed. I’m also kind of wondering if the docs due date is correct, or if my gut feeling is. Looking at ultrasound size they think I’m due the very end of April, I tend to think a week earlier, so we’ll see!
The to-do list
I’ve been working on getting some things into the freezer the last few weeks and have been making some good headway. My biggest thing I need to have done is lunches and snacks for Todd to bring to work. Since he’s on a gluten free diet it’s just not as easy as packing him a sandwich anymore.
I’m also washing all of the baby’s clothes today in order to get her stuff ready. Plus I need to figure out what I have so I can see what we still might need. It’d be nice if she could hang out just a bit longer so I can hit a couple of garage sales the next couple weekends.
So far everything is going really well! This pregnancy has been uneventful and I’m excited to finally see the little one I’ve been carrying!
Baby Bump Update: 36 weeks
The Baby this week:
She’s still rockin’ and rollin’. Although I think she thinks she has more room to move than she really does! I’m pretty sure I’m bruised from the inside out in one spot.
Last week was my OB appointment and she was squirming all over the place while the doc was trying to check her heartbeat. When she finally stopped so we could hear her, she punched the doppler thingy right off my belly! Guess she didn’t want to be bothered at that moment!
I also got my doc to sign a “birth plan” for me. Not because I think I will disagree with her when the time comes, but in case I get the on call doctor, or one of the nurses gives me grief about something, I’ll have her backing what we’ve talked about. I’ll share later what I put in it (it’s kinda long)
How I feel:
Actually pretty good for 36 weeks. Most days I have plenty of energy in the morning so I have to make sure to be productive then, because by afternoon, I’m a bit worn out! And the last day or so I think she’s been on the move. Maybe just trying to get into a different position, or perhaps even trying to drop down and engage, but things have been a little bit more painful last night and today. Like the whole trying to roll over while sleeping thing.
The to-do list:
I’ve been able to get more food prepared ahead of time for the freezer for after she comes. And hopefully this weekend I’ll be headed to a sale or two to find some great deals on clothes. And right after I post this, I’ll be getting to work on the moses basket bedding. Otherwise, I’m just not going to worry about things. Because, really, very little has to be done before she arrives. We’ll just wing it for awhile!
Baby Bump Update: 35 weeks
The baby this week
Is movin’ and groovin’ like crazy! She definitely loves to kick just one spot in my ribs, so by the end of the day it can get pretty sore. Still waiting for her to drop down!
How I feel
Starting to get more and more contractions. I need to make sure I stay well hydrated and take it easy otherwise they can actually be quite painful. I also need to stop telling people how I feel! Because as soon as I told someone I hadn’t been getting up at night to run to the restroom, it happened!
I found that having a nightlight in the bathroom helps a lot since it’s never so bright that you fully wake up. In so many ways I’m ready to be done, mostly so I can see my baby girl!
I’m also hoping we get some really nice weather soon since all of my late pregnancy clothes are for summer! Oh, how I would love to just wear my skirts and dresses right now instead of all these binding clothes.
Oh, and the whole standing on one foot to get dressed thing – totally over! The weight’s a bit to lopsided right now, I may just fall over while getting dressed!
The to-do list
Is actually getting smaller! We found a dresser/changing table (thanks Heather!) and hopefully after this week, her room will be ready to go. Although I’m hoping she can sleep in our room for awhile! But I’m still working on that.
I’m also still trying to figure out how to sew a liner for the moses basket I have, because I have great ideas of using it as her “bassinet” until she’s old enough for the crib. I used some old fabric to make a basic pattern, I just don’t know how well it’ll work yet!
I’ve also been in the kitchen a lot lately making up all sorts of things. Hopefully I’ll be able to get down to a whole foods coop this week to pick up more flours and such so I can really get baking! That, and I need to work on dinners for the freezer. I think I finally have a few ideas for some gluten free ones for Todd.
And with all the nice weather we’ll be having the next couple of days, I’m hoping it gives me a great energy burst and I can get some reorganizing and cleaning done!
Baby Bump Update: 34 weeks
Now it really seems like we’re in the home stretch. Only 4-8 weeks left to go! Although, I doubt I’ll make it 2 weeks past my due date, so I’m thinking it’s more like 4-6 weeks left. And I know, I know, every mom thinks they’re gonna go early, but I knew for sure I was going early with Cody and he ended up surprising us exactly 2 weeks before my “due date”.
The baby this week:
She sure likes to make her presence known! I’ve been feeling all sorts of jabs and kicks into my ribs. Definitely outgrowing her space! At my appointment last week she was measuring spot on and her heartbeat sounded great too. She’s still sitting pretty high and definitely hasn’t “dropped” yet. Some days I can’t wait for that to happen so I can breathe, other days I dread the pain that comes along with it!
How I feel:
I feel good for being 34 weeks pregnant. But of course, my energy has started to slack off a bit and carrying around this belly can make my back hurt quite a bit by the end of the day. Most days I do just fine, but days like yesterday when I had to go grocery shopping and run errands, well….let’s just say I was feeling it by the end of the night! But then again, hitting 4 stores with a 2 year old could wear anyone out!
The to-do list:
For me, it’s not getting short enough, fast enough, but with my limited capabilities I have to count on a certain man in my life to help me out. And since men don’t go through nesting, it can take some prodding! But I’m slowly filling up our freezer with baked goods and premade sauces to make things a bit easier after baby comes.
We’ve also got Cody downstairs in his new bedroom (which he had no problems at all with!). The only problem for me is that I now have to use a baby monitor while we sleep and then trudge downstairs to find out what he wants. But all in all the switch went extremely well.
Tonight we’ll also be picking up a dresser for the baby’s room to also use as a changing table. A dresser was much needed and we’ve been greatly blessed being able to buy it from a friend!
Everything is coming together and hopefully I can find some major energy spurts again and get some major baking done!
Listening to my body’s cues
As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been slowing down a bit in the number of posts I’m able to put up each week. And while I still have such a passion for getting information out there, my body is telling me I need more rest.
At 34 weeks pregnant now, everything around the house takes me twice as long and I must still run around after a toddler all day. So most of his naps times (usually my blogging times) have become my nap time as well! That is, when he sleeps. Because right now I’ve been waiting for an hour for him to nod off so I can go lay down for a bit!
So, I’d like to open up the floor for any of you that would like to guest post. I’m looking for posts about dealing with infertility, eating real foods, natural living, adoption, or overcoming miscarriage. And while I won’t be completely absent, just know that I’m doing what I can and giving my body what it needs! This little baby I’m carrying has been longed for, for quite some time, and I’m just enjoying the rest of this pregnancy while I can, getting things ready for her, and now getting my body ready for the birthing process.
I’ve been so blessed with wonderful readers and I’m thankful everyday when I see how many of you come back. Thank you!
Baby Bump Update: 32 weeks
I can barely believe I only have 6-10 weeks left before we get to meet our new baby girl! Excited can’t even describe it!
The baby this week:
She should be around 17 inches long or so and about 4 pounds. Everything written about this stage refers to the baby’s movements slowing down, but I think she finally figured out what her arms and legs are for! The last 2 weeks she’s definitely been kicking around a bit more. She’s also moved up into my lungs and ribs a bit, which has been less than fun while I was sick with a cold. Between her and the lung junk I’ve been experiencing, I’ve been short of breath a lot!
How I feel:
I actually feel really well for being 32 weeks along. Of course since I’ve done nothing but sleep the last week, I also haven’t done anything to bring any pain.
All in all I feel really good though! And once I get back some of my energy after getting past this cold, I’ll be all set.
The Bump:
Has definitely grown over the last couple of weeks! I now have to remember to space myself further from the counter while cooking so as not to catch it on fire.
The to-do list:
Definitely did not get any shorter the last couple of weeks. This last month has been a rough one for us but hopefully now we’ll all stay healthy and I can get a few more things done. This week my goal is to hem up the curtains for the toddler room so we can get him moved down here sometime this week.
I also bought fabric to sew up a nursing cover as well as a little minky blanket. I also want to sew some bedding for the moses basket soon, I just need to find a pattern first. And over the weekend I received such a huge blessing! I was asked to review some baby bedding and they sent me the whole set! It’s the cutest stuff I’ve ever seen, and I’m not just saying that because it was free. I’m really excited about it and it matches the color of the room perfectly. I’ll show it to you later on this week! But now that I know the color of the bedding I can also go out and buy fabrin for the crib gaurds to cover old teeth marks.
Other than that, I’m still on the lookout for a dresser to use in the baby’s room. We have a changing table, but it’s way to short for me and it doesn’t have any drawers. At our old house, Todd built a changing table for mew/ a couple drawers, but it was all built in so it had to stay. I’m super bummed about that and would now like to find something else to use. Plus, I find it much easier to store diapers and little onsies in a drawer and not on a shelf! So if any of you local folks have or find a dresser about 32-36 inches tall, let me know!!
I’m also going to start making ahead some dinners and lunches to freeze. That and I’ll be making our seasoning mixes and sauces up in bulk as well as freezing some bread and pancake mixes. I’d love to not have to cook for a few weeks.
Lofty goal, I know, but any little bit will help out.
These next few weeks should be busy, and I’m hoping they fly by!!
Baby Bump Update: 30 weeks!
The Baby this Week:
Baby should be about 15-16 inches long and about 3 pounds. I think she’s turned herself around a bit as I can feel more kicks on my belly than my organs! She also definitely has her awake and sleep times all set up. So now I guess I can plan on not going to sleep at 10:00 for awhile.
How I feel:
Like I’m in my third trimester, what else do you expect?
At least I’m still able to sleep through the night as of yet. My back seems to be the one thing that gives me problems, so I just don’t pick up as much as I used to. Which is why no one is invited over to my house right now! Right now I just can’t wait till the weather turns warmer, getting outside would do me a world of good.
The Bump:
Is being noticed by everyone. It’s the one thing that drives me nuts during the last couple months, cause people love to point it out. Yes, I am pregnant and yes my stomach will grow! (alright, maybe I’m feeling a little annoyed too)
The to-do list:
I’m still working on it. This weekend I went out and bought curtains for the “blue room” but have to hem them up since the window is over a ledge. So my plan is to have that done by this weekend so we can move the tot down to his “new” room! Then I can start getting things ready for baby.
I was also able to get some girl clothes from a friend of ours which was such a blessing! Now I just have to get a list made of what we do have so I can see what we still need. We have all the major stuff, but I think I’ll start looking for a double stroller as well as a wrap/sling at sales and whatnot. Garage sale season isn’t to far away! I just hope I don’t miss most of it while I’m on my babymoon!
Baby / Toddler sign for “All Done”
Teaching the sign for all done has proved to be beneficial not only for during dinner when Cody is all done, but for me to use as well to let him know that we are all done doing something. I use it when we’re done playing with a certain toy, or done at the park, etc.
Baby Bump Update: 28 weeks
I’m pretty sure that now that I’m entering into my 28th week, I’m considered into my third trimester. I can’t believe I’ve only got about 12 weeks, give or take a couple either way, to go!
The baby this week:
Should be around 2.4 pounds and about 15 inches long. Still a skinny little bugger, but she’ll be filling out soon enough! She’s still all squirmy and wormy right now and lots of fun to feel.
How I feel:
Well, I feel 28 weeks pregnant that’s for sure! Starting to get a bit more easily tired and definitely have to take it easier than normal. My back pain has lessened some so I think she’s moved off my sciatic nerve a bit. Let’s just hope she stays where she’s at! I’ve also started to have dreams that she’s here, and I absolutely love them.
I can’t wait to have a little one to nurse and snuggle with again!
The Bump:
So I can’t zip up my winter coat anymore, so I’ve graduated into one of my husbands. Totally not classy since it’s his white camo snowboarding coat, but at least for now, I don’t have to buy another coat just to wear it for a couple months!
The to-do list:
Actually got a little smaller over the weekend as we painted Cody’s room. I love the color and want to paint the rest of my house the same! So maybe not that much, but I’m seriously enamored by the blue. I also put up the crib sides to his toddler bed for ease during the transition period. (I bought it at a garage sale last year and it was actually a crib that turns into a bed. I planned on storing the crib sides, but I think they’ll come in handy) Since it’s a brand new room, and downstairs from us, I like the fact that he can get used to his new room without worrying about him roaming around! Now all I have to do is move everything out of the closet that we tossed in there when we moved in last year, and replace it with his clothing. Plus I’ll air it out a bit and either buy or make some curtains for the room as well to darken it a bit more for sleeping.
And here’s a little video clip of his new room. I wish I would have grabbed the camera last night when he was bouncing around and jumping off the bed so excited, but me trying to make him do it again is just as good. Right?
So how are the rest of you pregnant mommys doing out there? Have a baby bump picture or update? Leave it in the comments so I can check it out!
I am pregnant, watch me waddle
So it’s not that bad yet, but with my sciatic nerve giving me issues again, walking is a bit stiff! I’m about 27 weeks along, next week we enter into the third trimester. Time sure has been flying!
The baby this week:
Should be about 2 pounds and almost 15 inches by now. I had an appointment last Friday and all seems well. I’m measuring normal and her heartbeat is normal. I also had the OB check her position, and I was right! She’s moved head down, which is why I felt so much added pain and pressure one day.
And a bit more since then. She’s moving around, but still turned backwards so I’m the only one that gets to feel the major kicks.
How I feel:
Definitely feel like I’m headed into the third trimester! Once she moved last week, I’ve been having issues with my sciatic nerve so my back doesn’t let me do everything that needs to be done. I’ve even been using the drop side to our crib for the very first time while getting my son in and out. So I’ve been taking it easy and not lifting much. Which can be rather difficult when running errands and grocery shopping with a toddler who still needs to be picked up. But I’m managing just fine!
The bump:
Is growing and growing! And I’m only up a total of about 20 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight, so I’ve been eating enough, without eating to much!
Toddler thoughts:
One thing that’s been so fun this time around is the reaction from my son. He kind of understands that mommy has a “baby tummy” but we’ve had some fun conversations, like the other night at bedtime I was telling him that soon the baby would sleep in his crib and he would have a big boy bed.
son – “No, my bed”
Me – “You will have a new bed and the baby will sleep in the crib”
(thinks for a few moments)
son – “Baby sleep by me in My crib”
Me – “Um, no. Just the baby”
son – “Baby sleep by toys (the exersaucer) me sleep crib”
(now seriously, I’m glad the kid loves his crib so much, it’s kept us from moving him out of it thus far, but still)
So we started talking all about what he could do with the baby once she’s here, like showing her toys and reading books to her. This kid LOVES his books, so he jumped off my lap to grab one right then and there and we had to read a book to my belly button. Yup, that’s where he thinks the baby is. Who knows? Maybe when he screams through it like he likes to do, she can hear him. Baby bonding. At least she’ll be able to find her big brother out of a crowd!
The to do list:
Hasn’t gotten much shorter in the last week, although we started making progress last night. Todd’s getting the bedroom ready to paint so that we can move him downstairs soon. Although I seriously don’t like the idea of having him down there! So very far away. I know…silly mom. Whatever. But now it also means I have to walk farther if he wakes up at night.
Other thoughts:
I don’t know why women complain about having to be pregnant over the summer. I am not loving this winter pregnancy. While, yes, having a baby in the spring will be nice, it makes for a boring and less active pregnancy. Plus the fact that I have to stay bundled up to keep warm. When I had my son in August, I was able to wear skirts and dresses the whole last trimester and was so much more comfortable even through the heat. But alas, it’s God’s plan for me, so I’m embracing it and enjoying the sun when it does decide to shine!
