Your Subscription Status

The process of switching over to a more reliable subscription service is still underway! Those of you who subscribe by e-mail are all set to go, you’ve been automatically merged over. But – those of you who subscribe by RSS feed, need to make sure you re-subscribe. I really dislike that it makes more work on your part, but in the long run I hope it will be much easier for us all!

(and if you’re a maker of handmade goodies, or the owner of a natural store, there is still a bit of time to get on the list of companies we’re featuring – just contact me for details!)

Guest Posting

If you’ve been looking for a chance to guest post here at Naturally Knocked Up, this is your chance! I’ll be opening up the writing que for posts relevant to my normal message here. On Another Note: Looking for Advice

Alright all you momma’s out there. I’ve got a question and am looking for some advice! My almost 4 year old son has regressed to baby talking now that our baby girl (who at 16 months I still refuse to call a toddler!) is starting to talk and babble her words. This is driving us all bananas here at home! So if you have any fabulous suggestions for getting this to stop – I’d be ever so grateful!

  1. Sarah Bauer says:

My older son did some of the same (though he wasn’t talking very much to begin with), but just reminding him that he needs to use big boy words really helped. My younger son is going through this stage right now too (he’s almost 3 1/2) where he wants to babble and whine a lot, so he just doesn’t get what he wants unless he asks for it with his big boy words. It’s helping!

  2. So excited! Thank you again for putting the shower together! :)

  3. My son, almost 5, tends to start talking like anyone he’s around. We went camping 2 weeks ago and the dad of a girl he met spoke with a lisp. When we came home I noticed him talking like that. He normally speaks very well, so it was quite noticeable. I tell him that no matter how anyone else speaks, he needs to “talk like Jorden”
He also does it with his friends, he will come home mis-pronouncing the exact wotds they cant say clearly, even tho he normally speaks them just fine. He knows he’s doing it too. Telling him that he talks very well, and he needs to talk like himself really seems to help.

  4. I tell my youngest son ( who will be 6!) when he talks like that I can’t hear him. Then, I don’t respond to him until he speaks in his “Aaron’s big boy voice”. Once he does, I give him my full and complete attention at that moment. Helps, but hasn’t completely solved this for us…

  5. My first 2 girls are 2 yrs, 8 mos apart. When #2 started babbling, #1 would talk to HER in the same way. Shortly it was like they had a ‘twin language’ with each other, and #1 had to translate for me sometimes. I don’t remember her using baby sister’s speech on me, though, or being driven crazy by it. They did both graduate to Reasonable English (6 and nearly-9 now) eventually. :)

  6. I’d encourage him to ‘show his sister how to talk like a big kid!’ But not be too stressed about it… you know, when I talk to someone from ND or MN I start doing long oooooos! I think it’s a little bit natural to start talking like who you’re around!
