There’s no if, and, or buts about it – one of the biggest ways to live a cleaner life is to cut sugar out of your diet.

Conventionally grown refined sugar may contain toxins from pesticides and bleaching, but even organic and whole cane sugars are not necessarily healthy.

Because for your body to process sugar, it takes from your nutrient stores, right along with causing problems with insulin and hormone production.

I won’t go into the nitty gritty, but if you eat sugar daily you’re doing a lot of damage to your body.

One of the biggest changes you can make to clean out your body is to cut out the sugar.

  1. I’ve been sugar-free for about a year and a half now, and I hope I never go back to eating sugar. I haven’t noticed a big difference in the way I feel (I wasn’t feeling badly to begin with), but my skin is so much clearer overall and I just know it’s a healthier choice. Being around people eating sugary desserts doesn’t even bother me anymore because I know that this choice is good for my body. I substitute sugar with honey and, occasionally, stevia. Skin issues were the reason I went off of sugar, but I’m thankful I’ve been able to keep it up.

    Also, a good thing to think about–the natural doctor I go to now says that for every teaspoon of sugar you eat, your immune system shuts down for 2 hours. With all the sugar that most Americans eat, their immune systems are probably constantly disabled!

  2. One of the biggest differences I notice when I really watch my intake of sweet foods (even fruits, etc.) is my mood. I’m so much calmer/less anxious when I get rid of sweets. It’s tough, but it really helps.
