My Week in Pictures {5.6.11}

More often than not I have dishes piled up on the counter…even with a dishwasher in the house.
At least this pile is on the clean side.

We’re busy painting the basement getting the house in tip top shape – out with the chocolate brown on the right, in with the lighter tan on the left.

Gas Prices? Please don’t go any higher – my tank wasn’t even empty when I filled up.

Oh to be 14 again and think these earrings were cool to wear….

Circa 1995ish. Think I can pull them off now?

How about the burger and fries? Seriously- was this EVER cool!?!

seriously...a burger and fries?

Along with spring cleaning projects I normally get around to, the thought of moving more of my junk doesn’t appeal to me. Once I started going through it though….I realized how much emotional clutter I was keeping.

Some of it hurtful. Because whether or not it ever crossed your mind, I was often picked on an teased. My nose was to big, my hair to curly, I had both glasses and braces, my clothes weren’t “cool” enough. I didn’t have a boyfriend through most of highschool. This pile of letters were ones written by highschool girlfriends constantly reminding me of my faults in their “trying to be helpful” way. All of a sudden those hurt feelings came rushing back….and why was I keeping these things?!

It was cathartic to toss them all into the garbage.

    I love the earrings. They bring back floods of memories from middle school!!!!

    Hi Donielle:

    My friend Pam shared your recipe. I made the brownies tonight and love it! Will be sharing some with my Pastor who has diabetes and a friend of mine who’s vegetarian. Can I freeze these? Hope to learn more of these healthy recipes soon.

    @Liz Perez, Do you mean the black bean brownies? I’m sure you can freeze them, but what I have noticed is that the texture of beans do change when frozen, so while the taste will be the same, it may have a slightly different texture. Glad you like them!

  3. Its so refreshing to see your perfectly un-perfect house. So “real”. Love your blog!
