Natural Soap Bars {giveaway}
I’m a big fan of using natural skincare products, but I’ve bought me fair share of duds too. You know…. the products that claim how wonderfully they work, yet you hop in the shower with them for the first time and it doesn’t lather. Or it sticks to your skin and doesn’t rinse off.
So when Emily of Simply Cleansing asked me if I wanted to try out and review some of her handmade soaps, I jumped at the chance. We happen to have a mutual friend who also recommended these soaps to me, so I knew they came with good reviews.
All of their soaps are made from plant oils and essential oils, no fillers or chemicals. And they smell fantastic. Like good enough that you want to taste them.
But don’t.
They don’t taste like they smell. Not that I know about that personally…… *ahem*.
I asked to try the lavender and peppermint. You know, getting both aspects of the spectrum; one to relax and one to energize. But she also sent me a couple more bars: spearmint and cinnamon. And oh sweet mercy, I love those two scents even more! The spearmint especially. This one I may not let anyone else use.
My favorite part is that they actually work. They lather and the lather is smooth, and stays lathered while you wash. So even when you put the bar of soap down and scrub, you still have lather in your hands.
These bars are a real winner in my opinion.
And Simply Cleansing has also graciously decided to host a giveaway here! Two lucky readers are going to receive their choice of FOUR soap bars. A value of $12.00.
For those that can’t wait or want to buy some extra bars for loved ones, you can also get one bar free for every four bars you order. Just head to the Simply Cleansing website, order your 4 bars, and note which free bar you want in the comments when you pay.

I think I would like the orange or the peppermint soaps the best… I love the scent of peppermint, especially this time of the year! Stuff that is orange or citrus is great for waking me up in the morning, which I need all the help I can in that area… I am not a morning person.
Oops… Saw that the contest ended today, but did not see that it ended at 8am…
Oh well… sorry for leaving the comments after the deadline…
I love natural soaps, but each of these has sodium hydroxide, which is a toxic chemical. It is used in drain cleaner! I personally would not use something like that, especially while pregnant or trying to get pregnant. I find it sad that they say no chemicals are used, when that is in fact a chemical! I just can’t trust companies that deceive people that way.

@Jenny,
Jenny,
From my understanding you cannot make soap with out sodium hydroxide (lye). Saponification is the chemical process of making soap that involves a reaction between lye and a fat/oils. Any soap that has saponified oil listed as an ingredient must have used lye in the soap making process. When done correctly there is no lye present in the soap.
The name saponification literally means “soap making”. The root word, “sapo”, is Latin for soap.
In the past lye was made by using ashes but that can be dangerous because you can not properly determine how much lye is made and then there can be traces of lye in the soap. It is much safer to use a commercial sodium hydroxide so that a soap maker can determine just how much to use so there is none left in the soap.
I’d be very interested if you have some links for soap that doesn’t use sodium or potassium hydroxide.
I want to win!!!
