Nourished: A Food Blogger Conference

Just getting back from one conference has me excited for another blogging conference I’ll be headed to on April 13, called Nourished. I’ve never been to a food bloggers conference so I’m especially interested in the topics and how they relate to my blog, plus it’s for those of us who blog about restricted or unconventional diets. And I’m hoping to have some fun on the drive there with a few of my local food blogger friends! {Hint, hint. You guys are coming right?!}

{Also just realizing I haven’t actually posted a recipe lately – I’ll have to get on that}

Being that it’s in Chicago is super helpful too. Cause I can drive instead of flying in another tiny little death trap.

As I was looking through the agenda today I noticed this session:

Unconventional Food, Mainstream Appeal: Beyond Gluten-Free with Ricki Heller and Carolyn Ketchum

Does your blog deal with food restrictions beyond the normal gluten-free diet? Let Ricki from Diet, Dessert, and Dogs and Carolyn from All Day I Dream About Food show you how they’ve overcome the challenge of cooking and blogging with specialty diet foods and hard-to-find ingredients. You’ll also learn ways to draw a mainstream audience and how to best engage your target market.

I mean really……how unconventional can you get? I think fat is awesome and I put oatmeal out on the counter the day before I eat it.

It sounds a tad crazy really.

So I’m looking forward to hearing how to make it sound a bit more normal. A bit more appetizing to those who think I’m nuts.

I’m hoping this conference inspires me in the kitchen and equips me with a bit more know-how on the whole food blogging thing.

Are you a food blogger? Let me know if I’ll see you there, we’ll do lunch.

Not a food blogger? Now worries, just honestly tell me what’s lacking from my food blogging. Maybe it’ll help me decide what sessions to attend!

I’ve been asked to help get the word out about Nourished in exchange for my conference fee.

  1. I would love to go to this conference, just not sure I can swing it with the budget. And to be honest I havent ever been to a blogging conference and they seem a bit overwhelming to me. It seems like all the bloggers know each other, so being an introvert makes it scary! I might have to put my big girl pants on and take the plunge!

    I agree – conferences can be really overwhelming. And at every conference there seems to be a group of bloggers who know each other. It’s tough! kind of like starting highschool in a brand new district. :-) This Blissdom was my 4th conference and I felt a lot more comfortable and met a lot more bloggers. I guess the biggest thing I needed to realize was that there were other “newbies” too, and to just start introducing myself. (which is way out of my comfort zone!) I don’t know any of the speakers at this one, but I’m really interested in learning more. If you go, let me know and we can hang out!
