Now that I’m finding more and more bits of time these days, I’d like to finish answering all those questions that were asked of me awhile back.Blogger: Naturally Knocked Up – Create Post
Josephine asked -
If you could only recommend one health related habit to change, what would it be?
And Jill asked –
If there was one thing you wish everyone would eliminate from their diet, what would it be?
And that one change would have to be giving up refined sugars! Not only do refined sugars mess with your body’s blood sugar levels and cause your insulin production to spike all over the place (in turn causing your hormones to spike and drop unnaturally) they actually rob your body of vital nutrients. Yup, when you eat sugar, your body uses it’s stores of things like vitamin B to digest and rid itself of it.
*and yes, this is the hardest thing for me to give up too. I wish I could say that I currently eat absolutely no refined sugars, but I’d be lying. The truth? I scarfed down a bag of chocolate chips all by myself last week. Sugar is addicting. It tastes so very good. But staying away from it is one of the healthiest decisions you can make. Now maybe I should go read my sugar detox posts again!

I’d LOVE to be able to give up refined sugars…I’m trying to give it up little by little, that way it’s not such a huge shock. Having “withdrawal headaches” from not eating chocolate should be a good sign sugar is not so good!!

I started buying expensive organic sugar instead of refined white, so it makes me think *hard* about scooping it out of my bin by the $1.50 per scoop-ful to make brownies or iced tea.
It really helps! Also, if I do make a dessert, I cut my recipe in half, so I’m not snacking on it all day.
