The party-ing shall begin!

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

For those of you who haven’t heard, it’s the week to party – blog style! 5 Minutes for Mom is again hosting one of the biggest parties on the web. It brings together all sorts of women, some bloggers, some not, where we get to know each other and even win a few prizes!

For those of you stopping in for the first time, let me just say welcome! Pull up a chair and listen to me ramble!

My name is Donielle (pronounced don-yell, but if you say it wrong I can’t really hear you, so I guess it really doesn’t matter!) and I’m a 27 year old wife to my high school sweetheart Todd, (aww) stay at home mom to one little boy (2½), and due to have a baby girl next month.

I’m into eating and living healthfully, and not relying on medical doctors, in order to achieve conception. Although I do what I can to keep my body as healthy as possible, I know I must place my fertility in the hands of God and allow him to decide the when and if’s. Some days it’s been hard, and some days come easier.

My Story
I was finally diagnosed with poly-cycstic ovary syndrome in 2002, but only after I had spent time researching why I never had regular cycles. When I was 19, my doctor at the time just prescribed me The Pill, saying many women had irregular cycles and taking hormones through the pill would fix my problems and if and when I wanted to get pregnant, there was another little pill I could take.

The problem was, the pill wasn’t fixing any of my problems. In fact, in many ways, I believe it was making them worse. I was just giving my body fake hormones so that it didn’t have to try and produce any natural hormones itself. I suffered everything from migraines and stomach upset, to emotional instability. I was on these beastly little things for 4 long years and I had come to think that what I was feeling was just my ‘normal’. Little did I know how much effect they actually had on me.

It wasn’t until we started thinking about starting a family that I really started to look at the natural ways a person can increase fertility. I knew that it may take a long while for me to actually conceive and I wanted to make sure I gave my body the nourishment it deserved.

The thing is I understand the struggle of not being incredibly fertile. I know how doctors are very ready to write a prescription. And, I know how very often a person searches Google looking for ways to conceive, to only find odd ball sites full of ads to buy different products or sites based on new-age theology.

But this site is here to show all of you, there is another way. A way to change your odds of getting pregnant, naturally. This site will not be filled with a one size fits all cure, but with information on getting the right nutrition to optimize your chances of conceiving. With the right nutrition you can even reverse many health ailments and increase your chances of producing healthy eggs and ovulating regularly. My story is testament to that. And not everyone will believe that the way we eat and live effects our fertility, but my hope is that somehow my little voice out here in the big world wide web might be heard by someone who has been searching for answers.

Unfortunately though, sometimes no matter what they do, not all women are able to become pregnant, and it is my belief that the Lord is the only one that truly governs over our bodies. Although some days I have struggled immensely, I knew that with his strength, I could find peace about the future of my fertility. It is something that I had to continually place in his hands. I pray this site is both God honoring and also full of useful information, so that other women may be able to find the answers they are looking for.

I want this site to be a site about fertility, so that whether you are just beginning to think about starting a family or have struggled with infertility yourself, you may be able to find information here that can help you have a happy, healthy pregnancy.

I talk a lot about eating healthy real foods in order to nourish our bodies. I also talk about different fertility boosters along with things that can put a damper on it.

I hope you enjoy your stay here, I do try and be as open as possible!

*I also have a giveaway going for the book “Nourishing Traditions”. It’s open until Sat. March 21st at midnight!
