The Ultimate Party

So for the last couple of years, I’ve been participating in the Ultimate Blog Party, hosted by 5 minutes for mom. And basically I love it! I’ve found some great blogging friends that I still “chat” with to this day! It’s like online dating, but for friends. I won’t bore you with a super long post trying to show you all my wit and fabulousness (because in reality we bloggers know how many times we write and re write every post anyways and seriously that’s just to much to live up to should I ever meet you in real life like I did Jill from Diaper Diaries) so here’s the nitty gritty:

I’m a 28 year old naturally knocked up mama of two. And after overcoming symptoms of PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) just saying that causes my heart to skip a beat!

My husband affectionately (hopefully it’s affectionate) calls me a hippie as I’m a bit of a naturalist when it comes to food, parenting, and living. (most of the time he really just thinks I’m crazy)

I love researching food and I’m a constant student of nourishing nutrition! I make most of our food from scratch and am currently fumbling through figuring out the whole garden thing!

After having my second baby I’ve become quite the advocate for natural childbirth, breastfeeding, and baby wearing.

I talk way to much about cervical fluids, ovulation, and periods while in public. (and it embarrasses my husband to no end)

I decided to cloth diaper my babe and actually don’t mind it so much.

I drink water kefir and kefir soda like it’s going out of style.

I spend way to much time online and not all of it is ‘work’. (ahem – twitter, facebook…..)

So there you have it – my online ‘dating’ profile! I hope you’ll come join me in partying in the next week or so. I have some good stuff cooking up in my kitchen that I think you might like!

I’m also in the process of writing and publishing an e-course all about Preparing for Pregnancy (which will be launching early this summer) so that puts me in the position to give away something this year!! woot woot! (seriously never said woot woot before, but figured it was warranted) Just leave me a comment on this post and you’ll be entered to win membership/access to the course free of charge.

(how’s that for bribing you to be my friend?)

Over the next couple of months I’ll also be giving away access to the course for my subscribers and Facebook Fans. (and as an added bonus, you’ll also be able to sign up as an affiliate)

See you around the Ultimate Blog Party and thanks for stopping by!!!

Comments

  1. My husband calls me a hippie too! :)

  2. Natalie says:

I’m so glad I found your blog as I am also dealing with PCOS and infertility issues.

  3. Interesting–I’ve never heard of a ‘blog party’ I’ll have to check it out. I’d love to win your e-course. Sounds fun (I don’t have kids . . . but we’re hoping).

By the way, my husband never calls me a hippie. I think it’s because he’s French and he can’t recognize how strange I am due to cultural issues ;). I get the hippie remarks from my family though.

Thanks for sharing you ‘dating profile.’ I think it’s hilarious that you talk about cervical mucous in public.

  4. So many natural mommas out there! Partying with you at the UBP!

  5. Of course I’d love to win a pass into the e-course. I suffer from PCOS too and probably have all my life. I want to be a natural momma too.

  6. Elizabeth says:

I would love to win a pass for your e-course! I love natural living and would love to learn more!

  7. Cheers to all of us who have been called hippies! :-) Thanks for the chance to win your e-course!

  8. I would love to win a spot in the e-course! I saw the outline and it looks just perfect. I don’t have PCOS but want to be as prepared (naturally) as I can be for having a family some day.

  9. I think I’m becoming more hippie-like every day :) and I don’t have kids yet but we’re hoping to start trying sometime soon, so this is great timing!

  10. Hooray for natural mamas! I’ve been pregnant and or nursing (tandem until 3 months ago!!) since 2005. Cloth diapers, make your own baby food.. I’m the natural/hippie mom people go to for their questions, though most people would never know it of me! Good for you for spreading the word, and in a fun way!

  11. HeatherG says:

I prefer to think of myself as a traditional mom living in a conventional, suburban world. My family thinks the things I do are normal, where as my in-laws think I’m from another planet. (What do you mean you don’t feed your 8 month old Cheerios? He should be eating them by now. Why didn’t you get the baby every plastic toy the megastore had to offer? You are depriving him! You’re still breastfeeding?!? He’s not going to develop properly if you breastfeed him too long. What if he never learns to drink from a bottle or sippy cup?)

If they knew I was planning to take a preparing for pregnancy course (even if I don’t win it) they would have a heart attack. What is there to prepare for? Especially after you already have a child?

  12. you know, I am so glad that I found your site, and even got to meet you face to face! Seriously, we are gonna have to meet up for lunch at the Cheetah one day!! :) Can’t wait to see this course you’re doing!

  13. Tricia Smeding says:

I also have pcos! I have been blessed with two children. I am hoping that I can learn how to heal my body and get it regulated by eating and living more naturally… love following your blog!

  14. Veronica says:

I am looking forward to the ecourse on prepping for pregnancy. Thanks for putting that together!

  15. Stpooing by from #UBP10! I found your blogs name to be very cute and hope that I will become “Naturally Knocked Up” sometime soon! My hubby and I have been TTC for 5 months now. We have an almost 3 yr old who was conceived over night, so this is a little different for us.

    Enjoy the party!

  16. I am 26, have PCOS and just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant with our first child…naturally! I am so excited to learn more about natural birth and pretty much anything to do with natural pregnancy. I have so many questions and don’t know where to start. How in the heck am I ever going to be able to have a natural birth with so many societal norms fighting against it? Excited to hear your suggestions.

  17. Hey, looks like you’re another naturally curly girl like me! Great meeting you. Isn’t UBP fun? I have struggled with my ovarian issues (blah!) and I’m so glad I had my first baby at 22 because honestly if I’d waited until 32 I may have ended up not being able to conceive at all. Good for you, with the healthy food and all. I need to pay more attention to what I eat.

  18. I’m on the quest to change my family’s diet to more natural foods! I’m excited to look around more. Stop by FTSN for some peanut butter pie when you have time!

  19. Congrats on beating PCOS naturally! You have a cute LO In that pic :)

    Hope you’re having fun partying!

  20. Stopping by from UBP! Hoping to hear more about your gardening endeavors, I’d like to start one of my own. I’ve also bookmarked your Italian Cream Cheese Chicken recipe, it sounds wonderful!! I’m considering cutting the recipe in half though, because it’s just my husband and I and our 15 month old. A whole 9×13 pan would feed us for half the week. Do you know if the recipe halves or doubles well?

  21. Just wanted to let you know: I’ve been a subscriber for a while but ever since you switched websites I can’t get my google reader to update me on your posts. For now I’m happy to check periodically but I’d love it if the RSS feed worked again! I’ve tried unsubscribing and using your RSS feed links a couple times and no luck.

  22. I love the name of your blog. Very smart. Stopping by to mingle.

  23. I’d love to receive twelve weeks of good information.

  24. I have a 13 yr old “miracle child” as I was labeled infertle at age 23! PCOS is tough (not my issue) but I had many other fertility issues so I can relate. Nice to find you here from the party!

  25. Dawn Norman says:

Your e-course sounds great! I’m taking Wardeh’s course right now but summer should be a good time for a new course! :) I’d love to win and have a healthy pregnancy this time around.

  26. I have been reading and really enjoying your blog for a while but I have never said hello (I don’t think…). We had a bit of a struggle with secondary infertility last year and when I was feeling most discouraged, you will never know how much hope you gave me. Happily, I am now seven months pregnant with our second child. I am definitely at the “natural” end of mothering (although one of the things I love most about your blog is that I never found you to be extreme and I didn’t feel like I had to totally withdraw from the rest of the world to make the choices you suggest). Thanks for being there and such a wonderful source of information.

  27. I would love a chance to win your e-course. Hopefully by the launch I will be pregnant again, though. 😉 We have made so much progress since starting to making changes last May. Feeling positive for the next month or so. Either way, I will love learning everything you have to teach. Love the idea of an affiliate program – waiting to get the go ahead from DH to share all the details with the world. :) So glad I found you as I got mingling with some real foodies on Twitter. :)

  28. Donielle: I am truly hyped up about this e-course!! I can’t wait!!!!

  29. YAY to meeting in real life. And thanks for all your helpful food tips.

  30. Enjoyed your blog….

Blog hopping and having a blast…..so many great blogs….This is a GREAT party.
I have a Fun $100 Gift Basket to give away and all it takes a comment.
    I am number….294 and 295……

  31. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take your Preparing for Pregnancy course! Our family has endured 4 miscarriages since TTC when my only child was 2. Now she’s 5! She would do anything in the world for a sibling (including selling all her toys so we have “room” for the baby – she’s mentioned it several times). I was diagnosed with PCOS after our first miscarriage and what a crazy ride it’s been! We’re at a crossroads of almost giving up. I’m sellling almost all of our baby items next week on a yard sale (except all the timeless books and toys for our grandchildren some day!) in hopes of triggering a pregnancy that will have a happy ending. I will gladly yard sale for new items if I find myself in the last trimester of a pregnancy!

  32. I love how you call it your online dating profile! So true! Happy ubp!

  33. Hi! Thank you so much for all that you are doing, as well as for offering this wonderful opportunity. I discovered your website a few weeks ago, since I am desperately trying to help my body regulate itself. I stopped taking birth control pills several months ago in the hopes of having a child, but I have yet to have a period since then. Thank you for the information and support you make available on your site; it has been quite empowering and comforting!

  34. I’ve visited your blog before, but just wanted to say Hi again from the UBP . You have a great blog and a lot of good information. Nice to meet you again.

  35. Stopping by from the party! Great to meet you.

  36. Hi, from # 225 at the UBP. I LOVE your blog title…and the transparency with which you live, evident even in your party post. :^) Hope you can stop by to visit my place this week: http://tinahollenbeck.blogspot.com/2010/04/2010-ultimate-blog-party.html.

  37. Hey! Happy UBP 2010!

My husband and I are ready to have a baby. Your information is going to be very helpful, thanks!

  38. I just signed up to get updates via email. You got me after the breastfeeding and kefir LOL! I have had kefir a few times and I don’t think I do it right… it ends up as a big blob of lumpy milk and smells bad… I need a lesson from you!

    Looking forward to my updates!

@Katherine, Hey Katherine, I’m kinda late getting to this – sorry!

But…..random.org selected your number as the winner for my eCourse!! Just e-mail me your info so I can keep it on hand and contact you when it goes live this summer. donielle at naturallyknockedup.com

    Congrats!!

  40. I would love to learn more about using nature and what is found in it that is one thing since I started blogging I have been very much interested in

  41. I’m so glad we “met”! It’s been great to keep in touch!
    Blessings,
    Michelr

  42. My husband also thinks I’m crazy for cloth diapering and trying to make as much as I can on my own. I know that feeling! The UBP does kind of feel like Speed Online Dating (or at least what I think speed dating would feel like if I actually did it).

  43. Your preparing for pregnancy e-course sounds great. We have been trying for a little over a year now and no luck, but we are not going to give up. We have changed to eating real foods and I think we are doing pretty good. Still have a lot to learn. Your e-mails have been great for information and find great recipes. I need recipes in order to cook this way. :)

I look forward to your e-course.

  44. Very nice to meet you! Happy blog party week and feel free to stop by my blog too!

  45. Dropping by to toss confetti, pull up a virtual chair and party with you. Let’s have some fun!

    It’s you’re the tweetin’ kind, I’m @Dayngr on twitter.

My husband thinks I’m a hippie because of my green ideas, organic cooking, natural products, cloth diapering, etc.
I’m glad I found your blog on the UBP!

  50. I’m a hippie. I have PCOS. I should probably give up sugar. I’m in your local area (approximately), and I’m totally partying it up with the UBP, but I didn’t know you were (there are soooo many) until I added you this afternoon to my reader after your Spring Cleaning post over at Katie’s. I’m already glad I did.

    donielle Reply:

  55. Hi, stopping by from the UBP. This is my first even though I’ve been blogging about a year and a half – I think…

I’m afraid I am past the baby making years (plus had all my mechanics removed). I have two daughters 14 & 20 & they keep me on my toes.

I found you through the blog party and hope you’ll visit me, too. I write about natural parenting and living. :-) http://LifeMoreSimply.blogspot.com

  59. I found you via facebook, great to read your story, very inspiring for me as I am hoping to have a baby this year, now that I’m becoming healthier , many thanks, Wendy

  60. Yes to all! I am training to become a ST NFP teacher and working on getting the sugar out of my diet right now. Can’t wait to read your Preparing for Pregnancy guide! It will be quite timely as we are going to TTC in September!

  61. Sweet! I talk about NFP and how you can help fertility & health with diet all the time. (Only my husband ins’t embarrassed – he chimes right in!). I’d love to learn more about what to eat for pregnancy!
