What you may have missed this week

In order to make sure you don’t miss something incredible (since many forms of social media are not showing all our followers everything) I thought I’d do a good recap of some things you may have missed!

The Pot Stirrer’s Broth

A local to me herbalist, Lisa Rose Starner, wrote a great post on making broth and including herbs for extra nutrients. She has recipes for both vegan and chicken/beef based broth and ways to get the most nutrients possible.

A Holistic Approach to Hypothyroidism

Another local to me practitioner, Katherine Heineman, a DO at Holistic Care Approach, wrote about different ways to treat hypothyroidism as well as what you (and your practitioner) really want to be looking at when it comes to diagnosing and treating it.

The Naturally Knocked Up facebook page was also nominated by Babble as one of the Top 20 Pregnancy FB Pages, one of only three that focuses solely on preconception health.

In Pictures:

I had ordered some Einkorn flour (a very ancient form of wheat) and was kind of bummed to find out that 80% of the bran and germ had been removed. I opened the package and noticed how “white” it was and headed straight to their website to confirm my suspicions. While I understand that they have done so to try and preserve the integrity of the flour (manufacturers usually heat the flour at high temps to stabilize the germ so that the flour doesn’t go rancid), I was bummed to find that they didn’t offer any whole grain flour, you have to buy the berries and grind them yourself. And I guess I still don’t understand how they get away from keeping the flour from going rancid if they keep in 20% of the bran and germ, unless they still heat it………if you know, feel free to comment and inform me!
Well that's a bummer! I bought this thinking it was whole grain......come to find out it is not. 80% of the bran and germ removed, basically a "white" flour. :-(

In case you ever feel badly about a messy kitchen. Don’t.
Yea......so the whole "clean up before bed" thing has not been working this week.....

Deals:

The Bulk Herb Store has their Holiday Tea Collection on sale as well as their Salve Mix kit, which would make for great Christmas gifts! Oh, and I just noticed that they have a brand new Clay Toothpaste Kit. I’m almost out of my Earthpaste and thought about making my own with some of the Redmond Bentonite Clay I have here at home. And the ingredients I was planning to put into mine are exactly what they have in their kit! I love when I’m on to something.

  1. Thanks for the recap! I’ve found FB to be frustrating in many ways, so it’s no surprise that they don’t show people who “like” our pages, all of our posts. Oh well, at least it doesn’t think my blog is spam anymore…

Anyway, congrats on the nomination! You’re definitely one of my favorites (and I’m not even TTC).
