When You Smell Smoke…..

You might wanna do something about it.

When you turn your stand mixer on to knead bread…..

don’t let it run for an hour before you remember.

When you place the over kneaded bread dough in the oven to rise in a ‘warm’ place…….

don’t forget to turn the oven off.

Obviously that loaf did not turn out.

When making a new recipe…………

don’t forget to read the directions.

  1. Ha…I’ve melted bowls before too….

  2. Oh dear! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who has kitchen disasters!

  3. I am so glad to hear that you have those, too…now I know I am truly not alone! thanks for keeping it real!

  4. This makes me feel better! hehehe 😉

  5. Don’t forget the serious side — keep a fire extinguisher handy — and know how to use it!!!

  6. I love this post because it is so “me”! I seem to have dyslexia just when it comes to recognizing which burner those little diagrams on the stove controls are referring to. I have turned on the wrong one so many times, and melted cookbooks, bowls, utensils, etc! (I am getting better, after years & years.) I also have left several things in the oven to “soak” or rise & then started pre-heating the oven… We must be the types who like to multi-task, which doesn’t always work out so well!

  7. Haven’t we all had a day like that. I had one a few weeks ago that started with actual flames in my oven (funny that the smoke alarm never turned on until the flames were actually extinguished….)

  8. John is right, though – I once hid the (plastic) dish drainer in the oven to clear counter space for our daughter’s bday party. My husband laughs now, but the next day when he tried to reheat birthday pizza for his lunch, it took quick thinking and the fire extinguisher for him to save the day. (But not the dish drainer. Which is OK – I hated it anyway!)

  9. This looks like a page pulled right out of my own book. LOL! I’m always destroying something in our kitchen. TFS!
